10. SCEA’s Inaugural Leadership Summit

On Friday, 18 July 2025, more than 100 SCEA executives and middle leaders gathered at Dreambuilders Church in Middle Swan for SCEA’s first-ever Leadership Summit.
This milestone event was designed to enrich and equip School and Head Office leaders while promoting excellence across the organisation.
9. Mid-year break allows staff time to achieve holiday goals

The three-week mid-year break was initially mooted by Perth school leaders who had families wanting to travel to Europe and other far-flung destinations without the constraints of hurrying back for classes within 14 days of break-up.
The 21-day gap allowed SCEA staff enough time to see the Sistine Chapel, Westminster Abbey or even the dolphins at Exmouth on the way to Coral Bay in WA’s sunny northern corner!
8. Jumping for Joy! – Intranet AI-Bot Winner announced

The winner of the AI-Bot for the SCEA Intranet has been named by the Judging Committee this week, with Miss Ashleigh Nguyen (Marketing & Communications Officer – Ellenbrook Christian College) taking out the top honours with her winning suggestion – ‘Lumina’.
Her inspiration for the name?
“I researched ancient words for knowledge and enlightenment, and I thought the Latin word for light, Lumina, fitted well with what the intended purpose of the SCEA Intranet will be.”
7. Apple Training begins across SCEA schools as parents embrace ‘Managed Devices’ for the 2026 school year

SCEA schools participating in the ‘Managed Device’ program for 2026 received their first training sessions last week, with Parent Agreements in each school reaching maximum levels in readiness for device deployment in January.
Prior to the training from Winthrop Australia to upskill our teachers in the world of iPads, MacBooks and ‘Apple Classroom’ software, a mountain of products needed to be circulated to schools in readiness for these sessions.

The growth at Northshore Christian Grammar School (NCGS) since its inception has been nothing short of historic, with the school growing from 55 pioneering students on Day 1 in 2017 to 823 this week.
The Stage 4 development approval now allows the NCGS to cater for these students, and future enrolments, with multiple classrooms, a library and Mr Chisholm’s most sought-after commodity – an oval!
5. SCEA’s Human Resources team branches into new categories – ‘People’ and ‘Payroll’

What happens when you start with a small operation (SCEA schools in the past), and it grows by up to 10% every year in terms of enrolments and then staffing?
Enrolment growth and staffing numbers have risen dramatically over the past five years, and how we support our staff as we grow is of the utmost importance.
4. ‘Dufty’s Dashboard’ is demonstrating efficiencies for SCEA schools already

When Mr Matthew Dufty joined the SCEA Head Office earlier this year in the newly created role of ‘Manager of Data Strategy & Analytics – SCEA’, the aim was to enhance transparency across our schools to support planning and timetabling.
However, the man known in the SCEA Head Office as ‘Matrix-Matt’ is exceeding all expectations through his programming wizardry!
3. ‘Catch Of The Week’ begins soon with Phishing emails to be sent out by SCEA’s ICT Department

Longtime SCEA staffers will be familiar with the concept of ‘scam emails’ and ‘phishing’ – and now our ICT Department in the SCEA Head Office will be sending out ‘fake’ emails to see if we can spot their scamming attempts before the real ‘bad guys’ steal all of our data!
Starting next week, the ICT Department will test our knowledge of ‘scam emails’ and ‘phishing’ by creating fake emails and trying to lure you into clicking on something dubious in that email.
