The winner of the AI-Bot for the SCEA Intranet has been named by the Judging Committee this week, with Miss Ashleigh Nguyen (Marketing & Communications Officer – Ellenbrook Christian College) taking out the top honours with her winning suggestion – ‘Lumina’.

Her inspiration for the name?
“I researched ancient words for knowledge and enlightenment, and I thought the Latin word for light, lumina, fitted well with what the intended purpose of the SCEA Intranet will be. I’m glad the judges agreed with my idea,” said Ashleigh this week.
The judges, a panel made up of Mr Nick Wood (Chief Operating Officer – SCEA), Mr Paul Fettis (Manager, Risk Governance & Assurance – SCEA), Miss Lauren Hays (Marketing & Communications Specialist – SCEA ), and Mrs Anna Guy (Executive Assistant – SCEA) were overjoyed by the number of responses from across SCEA sites.
“The judges liked the fact that it was a name that everyone could appreciate,” said Miss Hays this week, “and it had a deep resonance with what we were looking for with its aspirational tone.”
More than 70 entries were submitted across SCEA, ranging from highly creative (WayMaker, Truth Bot, and The Prodigal Bot) to playfully entertaining (Churchy McChatFace, Clippy 2.0, and Reginald).

With Ashleigh scoring the winning entry and celebrating with her Principal, Mrs Michelle Schouten, this week we asked the judges for more information on their rationale for the big decision:
“As part of the final selection process, the panel extends honourable mentions to the following names,” said Miss Hays.
“Wot Bot – chosen as a runner-up for being fun, memorable and linking to the old English word ‘to know’ and also to Sophia – chosen for its ease of pronunciation and meaning ‘wisdom’ in Greek.”
The promise of a $150 Koorong voucher for the winning staff entry made this an exciting competition to end the school year, with the Intranet on track for release early in 2026.
Stay tuned for more updates on the Intranet – and be sure to ask ‘Lumina’ a few hard questions once the new system is operational in the new year!
