SCEA schools participating in the ‘Managed Device’ program for 2026 received their first training sessions last week, with Parent Agreements in each school reaching maximum levels in readiness for device deployment in January.
Prior to the training from Winthrop Australia to upskill our teachers in the world of iPads, MacBooks and ‘Apple Classroom’ software, a mountain of products needed to be circulated to schools in readiness for these sessions.
The 14-hour day for Mr Long Nguyen (ICT Purchasing and Asset Officer – SCEA) resulted in a smooth rollout across the SCEA sites, but also allowed our camera crew to catch ‘King Long’ taking a break on his iPad throne late in the day!

With preparation complete, training began at Ellenbrook Christian College (ECC) on Monday afternoon (27 October) and Swan Christian College (SCC) on Tuesday afternoon (28 October), led by Mr Stephen Drew (Head of Digital Learning – SCEA).
This week, the training team moved to Northshore Christian Grammar School (NCGS) on Monday. Mr Nick Wood (Chief Operations Officer – SCEA) is delighted that the project is moving ahead on schedule, with this training comprising a significant part of the learning process for school-based teaching staff:
“The after-school training sessions are designed to upskill teachers for the changes that will take place in 2026. The basics of using an iPad, a MacBook, and the ‘Apple Classroom’ software have constituted the first parts of the training module for SCEA staff, with our on-site ICT Training and Support Technicians also available to support classroom teachers now and into the future.”
For SCEA parents, the positive response has been overwhelming!
You would have seen the ‘thermometer graphic’ in last fortnight’s SCEA News article, indicating the significant uptake across all SCEA school communities for this new initiative designed to improve student outcomes across our schools.
This week, the thermometer has hit 100% at Southern Hills Christian College (SHCC), with the three other participating secondary schools also recording significant increases.

During a recent Senior Leadership Team (SLT) meeting, SCEA Principals took time out to inspect the new Apple hardware storage facilities that will be used to conveniently store and charge these new products in their SCEA schools next year.

Finally, on Thursday, 30 October, a large selection of SCEA staff met at the SCEA Central Office for group training with representatives from Apple and Winthrop Australia.
The day was a great success for SCEA staff seeking to receive instructions as a unified group, in readiness for the 2026 school year.
