News from the SCEA Board – 1 March 2024

The SCEA Board currently consists of five members, with Mr Craig Clark in the position of Board Chair. He has been part of the SCEA Board since 2019, holding a number of positions on sub-committees before becoming Board Chair in mid-2023.

The four “new” Board members were voted in at last year’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Mr Jordan Thyer, Dr Thelma Perso, Mr Rod White and Dr Natalie Leitao are all recent editions to the SCEA Board, but they have already met several times and formed sub-committees to support further the SCEA mission under SCEA Chief Executive Officer, Dr Graeme Cross.

In 2024, the AGM will be held on Thursday, 23 May, and the planning is underway to complete the Annual Report before this date for all legal and financial regulations to be upheld. The AGM is also an event that allows the Board Chair and the Chief Executive Officer to reflect on the past year and cast the vision for the year ahead. This is a time of fellowship and thanksgiving for God’s provision in our mission to provide Christian education for students and families in our communities.

Yesterday, Thursday, 29 February 2024, the SCEA Board met for the first time this year, with the group uniting to prepare for an excellent year together.

Acting Board Secretary Ms Anina Findling brings significant governance experience to the group and may be known to SCEA staff from her time assisting the Head Office in 2022.

With SCEA enrolments recently hitting the 5,000 student mark, the oversight of such a large organisation will rely on prayer, wisdom and the ability to think deeply about every decision that needs to be made for our schools, our families and our staff moving forward.

Please pray for this group as they provide oversight and support to our Chief Executive Officer, the Senior Support Team and the Senior Leadership Team during the course of 2024. We are grateful for the provision of godly men and women to lead SCEA in the next chapter of its history.
