The exploits of NCGS Design & Technology teacher Mr Nathan Perrett in the water were too much for Mr Stuart Chisholm (Principal – NCGS), who teamed up with Ms Sascha Dallo (Primary Curriculum Coordinator – NCGS) to swim for charity around the Busselton Jetty.
Mr Chisholm may have been led to believe that the money being raised from the event would go towards funding his new school oval at Northshore.
However, this was not the case…
The selected charity was actually Pink Elephants (increase awareness about early pregnancy loss), and the event raised tens of thousands of dollars. More than 6,000 swimmers took part in the event!

1. Regional bushfire sparks SHCC evacuation on Friday afternoon
Just days before a huge bushfire ravaged the hills of Bedfordale earlier this year, Mr Paul Beacham (Principal – Southern Hills Christian College) had worked together with Mr Rhys Vallance (Head of Risk & Compliance – SCEA) to stage an evacuation exercise for the entire school population – just in case they were ever required to vacate the school property in the case of an emergency.
Divine providence or simply years of experience?
Either way, the plan was put into action a week later when Mr Beacham became aware of a fire situated to the east of the school near the Wungong Dam.
The real-time evacuation plan was then put into action, and buses were summoned from all parts of the metropolitan area to ferry students down to a local recreation centre.
The ensuing media reporting and public interest in the story catapulted SCEA’s southernmost school into the headlines – and also secured this article as the number-one story in SCEA News for 2024!
