Celebrating Ms Valerie Gould’s fourteen years at AISWA

Association of Independent Schools of WA (AISWA) Executive Director, Ms Valerie Gould, celebrated her tenure at the regulatory body last week with a selection of independent school Principals and colleagues.

Ms Gould, who has been at the helm since 2008 and was Deputy Director for five years before that, is retiring from full-time employment later this year.

“I’ve loved the work — it’s been a privilege to work with all those schools,” said Ms Gould.

“But it’s just time to step back a bit and let someone else take the reins.”

Colleagues and Principals gathered last week to praise Ms Gould’s support for schools across Western Australia (WA).

AISWA has grown by 4.2 per cent in the last twelve months and now represents 164 schools across WA, with enrolments of 71,893 students and employing approximately 12,265 staff.

Our SCEA schools have been the beneficiary of Ms Gould’s outstanding leadership, particularly during COVID-19, where daily briefings, guidelines and directions became the ‘new normal’ for AISWA and its member schools.

Mr Chris Massey will now take over as Executive Director for AISWA, moving from his position as Director at the University of Western Australia.
