Alumni achievements for Swan Christian College

The holiday break gave us the opportunity to see how some of our past students are faring in ‘life after school’.

In sunny London, Mr Peter Munro (class of 1995, Swan Christian College) shall henceforth be known to all as Professor Munro after his recent promotion at the University College, London (UCL). Peter has been recognised for his work in ‘Computational Optics’, which is largely based around improving medical imaging and X-rays through computers and technology.

(PS. The UCL campus has more than 42,000 students on its books today and also boasts a number of famous students since its founding in 1826, including Alexander Graham Bell, G.K. Chesterton, Ricky Gervais and the band Coldplay, who formed their band in their student days at the college.)

In nearby Belgium, current Year 12 student Nick Bolt (SCC) is completing five weeks of a racing tour through the Flemish countryside in the Cycling Development Foundation (CDF) races.

Three wins for Nick so far, and the Tour De France is calling, where fellow Swan student Luke Durbridge (class of 2008) is racing as part of the Australian team ‘Bike Exchange-Jayco’.

Back home in Perth, Mr Zane Trew (class of 2019) has played his first game of AFL football for the West Coast Eagles in recent weeks after outstanding form in the WAFL competition in recent months. Zane’s mother, Daina, is a longtime SCEA staffer and hopes are high for Zane’s AFL career!
