Christian Schools Australia – Dr John Collier at Swan Christian College

Following Monday’s SCEA Celebration event, Dr John Collier returned to Swan Christian College on Tuesday 26 July, to address school Principals and Christian Education teachers from various Christian schools.

The Christian Schools Australia (CSA) event was designed to harness the work of Dr Collier’s research and findings into Biblical teaching in Christian schools across Australia. Dr Collier is now the Dean of Morling Education and is creating a university program designed to equip new teacher graduates with the skills to deliver the gospel through their classroom practice, conversations with students, and presence in the school as staff members.

The event brought together representatives from Bethel Christian School (Albany), The King’s College (Wellard), Mandurah Baptist College, Dale Christian School (Armadale) and a number of staff from the seven SCEA schools.

Dr Collier’s work in Christian education is vast, having served as a school Principal for more than thirty years and as a member of the Synod of the Sydney Diocese, a Lay Canon of St Andrew’s Cathedral and the Australian Council for Educational Leaders.

The event allowed teachers to speak to Dr Collier about his concept of ‘transmissional versus transformational’ Christian education, which looks at how the curriculum is shaped within Christian schools to be evangelical and effective for today’s families.
