Depth of leadership across SCEA allows Mr Beacham to take Long Service Leave

The communities of Kalamunda Christian School (KCS) and Southern Hills Christian College (SHCC) received communication last week regarding some temporary leadership arrangements that are taking place to accommodate a period of Long Service Leave (LSL) for Mr Paul Beacham, SHCC Principal.

Mr Beacham will commence his Long Service Leave (LSL) on 6 June 2022 (Week 7 of Term 2) and return to SHCC on 15 August 2022 (Week 4 of Term 3).  This period includes three weeks of Annual Leave along with the allotted LSL provision.

The priority for Southern Hills during this period of leave is that the outstanding quality of leadership Mr Beacham provides can continue, and the standard of education experienced by the students is sustained. Likewise, we want to ensure that the KCS community is amply cared for during this period.

As such, Dr Gregg Weaver, Principal at Kalamunda Christian School (KCS), has agreed to serve as the Acting Principal during this period of time. Dr Weaver has more than thirty years of leadership experience in Christian schools across Australia and New Zealand. Immediately before joining our Association, he served as the Principal at Hillcrest Christian College in Victoria, which is a K-12 school with an enrolment of 1400 students.

For KCS, Mrs Tabatha Grubb will serve as the Acting Principal in these weeks. To ensure she is well supported, arrangements have been made for Dr Weaver to be on-site at KCS a couple of times each week. Mrs Grubb has also deputised in this position in 2020 prior to Dr Weaver’s arrival.

We have every confidence that the care and quality of education being experienced by students and families at both of these SCEA schools will be sustained during this short period of leadership change, and we sincerely hope that Mr Beacham is able to enjoy this well-earned rest knowing that his school is in very safe and capable hands.
