‘Step Together’ – a voluntary activity for SCEA staff on 15 December 2021

As Term Two comes to a close, the concept of planning for the end of the year seems a long way off. However, all school staff know that planning ahead is the key to success – and now is the time to dust off the walking shoes and make plans for Wednesday, 15 December 2021.

The concept of ‘Step Together’ is for SCEA staff to come together for an hour of physical exercise (strolling, paddling, running, cycling, etc.) around the South Perth foreshore early on the first morning of the summer holidays to enjoy time together.

The event is completely voluntary, and spouses, children and even pets are also invited!

SCEA will be providing a light breakfast after the event around the main start/finish point near the BoatShed Café (1 Coode St, South Perth WA 6151).

While some of us might think the idea of coming together for exercise is an activity for ‘gym junkies’ or the ultra-athletic type, this hour of togetherness is for all levels of ability.

Below is a map that outlines the possible activities for the morning, including walking, jogging, paddling (BYO kayak) or cycling (BYO bike).

The idea is for your chosen activity to take about 60 minutes, and then the group can come together for breakfast and celebrate the day that the Lord has made as we look forward to Christmas.

Some staff may want to set themselves a personal goal, i.e. walking the five kilometres, posting a personal best time, or racing with a friend/colleague. This could be a fun target to work towards in the second half of the year.

We have been working towards a t-shirt design to mark the event, and staff will have the option to order one soon.

We aim to profile a few of the staff who register for this event during Term Three and Four and find out how their preparation is going.

Stay tuned for more news about ‘Step Together’ after the holidays!
