“Madagascar Jr. is more than just an entertaining show. It’s a visual reminder of how the arts can bring people together – students from both primary and high school, staff from different departments, and families from our wider community,” said Northshore Christian Grammar School (NCGS) Principal Mr Stuart Chisholm, whose lion-hearted leadership has been crucial to the success of the College’s growth since its opening in 2017.
The show ran over three days, from 22–24 May, with parents, students, and staff working dutifully to create something new—a school performance with main characters and a supporting cast.
The cast ensemble featured more than 40 students from all year groups, bringing energy, humour and heart to the stage in a colourful and captivating performance of Madagascar Jr.
The production marked a significant milestone for the school, drawing together students, staff, and families to celebrate creativity and collaboration. This production was made possible through the guidance of the very talented Mrs Elzette Schroeder (Director), Ms Margaret Goldsmith (Musical Director) and the entire Arts department.
Mrs Schroeder reflected on the entire experience this week:
“As our school continues to grow, particularly into the Senior Years, we are filled with anticipation for what’s next. Madagascar Jr. is only the beginning. Our vision is to build on this momentum and continue producing high-quality, biannual musical productions that not only entertain, but uplift and unite.“
“We are so proud of every student, staff member, and parent who contributed to this production. Thank you for being part of this milestone moment. We hope to see you at the next show—it’s already sparking excitement!“
A quick glance at the social media comments on the night showed just how much the audience appreciated the performance:
“Wow, blown away by the production – everyone was absolutely amazing! We had the best time. To everyone involved, you were all awesome, you’ve worked so hard, and you should all be so proud of yourselves!! Amazing!!”
“I have to be honest, I’ve seen a lot of school productions over the years, and they can be hit and miss. But you guys were amazing! Everything from the stage props through to the fabulous performances – I was blown away! You should all be so proud of yourselves because you are incredible!”
Congratulations to the entire Northshore community on this outstanding achievement!
