Our SCEA Secondary schools have dedicated Science laboratories that are perfect for whizz-bang experiments!
Last week, the Beechboro Christian School (BCS) students from Years 5 and 6 travelled to Ellenbrook Christian College (ECC) as part of National Science Week to experience the thrill of controlled explosions, chemical reactions and fiery outbursts created by Year 9 students.

The Year 9 ECC students captivated their audience by creating ‘green slime’ from a controlled chemical compound, test tube reactions and open flames!
The safety equipment and expert supervision ensured that the BCS students were suitably ‘wowed’ in a safe and secure environment.
Several BCS graduates will continue their SCEA education at the Santona Boulevard campus in future years, with ECC continuing to foster strong working relationships with their BCS neighbours on Bennett Springs Drive.
In the photos below:
- Year 9 ECC students demonstrate how to test the pH indicators of colourful mixtures
- Students created the bubbly and foamy concoction known as “Elephant’s Toothpaste” (a science experiment that produces a large, foamy eruption resembling a giant tube of toothpaste, created by the rapid decomposition of hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) into water and oxygen gas, catalysed by a substance like yeast or potassium iodide).
