Minister Safiotti joins ECC’s Year 12 leaders to ride the new MetroNET train!

Year 12 leaders from Ellenbrook Christian College (ECC) took time out of their busy schedule on a Friday afternoon to ride the new MetroNET train from Ellenbrook to Whiteman Park station with WA Transport Minister Mrs Rita Safiotti and Principal Mrs Michelle Schouten.

The Minister, who also holds the portfolios of Sport & Recreation and Deputy Premier, took time out from deliberating over the State budget process to hear from the students in her electorate about the transport efficiencies, university prospects in 2026 and the new jobs being created by the State government.

“We have just reached 750 pupils in our school, and the student leaders today have been very fortunate to meet one of our state’s hardest-working politicians,” said Mrs Schouten this afternoon.

Mrs Safiotti is keen to visit the ECC campus later this year when the College celebrates its 25-year anniversary on Friday, 12 September.

The new Community Pavilion, currently being constructed on the grounds of ECC, is due for completion soon, with Minister Safiotti keen to open the $2.8 million facility at the anniversary event.

The Cook Government provided the funding for the pavilion on the school oval as part of the MetroNET Morley-Ellenbrook line. The completion of the pavilion will provide change rooms, shower facilities, and drink fountains for students on the far side of the pedestrian underpass.

ECC sports classes are already taking place on the expanded oval space, with the upcoming Athletics Carnival scheduled for Term 3 expected to be ECC’s largest open-air event of all time!

The map below shows the respective State members for each of the SCEA school electorates. Each of the SCEA schools aims to have positive working relationships with each of the elected politicians, regardless of their political leanings. In Term 3, the Honourable Dave Kelly MLA will visit Beechboro Christian School (BCS), and Mrs Lorna Clarke MLA will visit Northshore Christian Grammar School (NCGS).
