Mr Adam Hort, the WA Liberal Member for Kalamunda, visited Mrs Nancarrow’s Year 6 class at Kalamunda Christian School last week for a Q&A session following his recent success in the WA state election.
The students have been closely following both the state and federal elections as part of their political studies unit in their curriculum.

This visit also aligns with their recent excursion to the Parliament of Western Australia.
Mr Hort shared his journey from growing up in the local suburb of Lesmurdie to becoming a pharmacist, then pivoting to the role of Deputy Mayor of the City of Gosnells and eventually becoming the Member for Kalamunda.
His career has been shaped by a deep desire to help others and serve his community.
When asked about Christian schooling, Mr Hort said that he sends his own children to a local faith-based school and considers Jesus to be one of his heroes, citing His servant leadership and selflessness as the ultimate examples of how we should treat one another.

Mr Hort shared his vision for Kalamunda with the students, expressing his desire for increased investment in the future of the electorate while ensuring the preservation of its beautiful natural environment.
He also allowed ample time for the students to ask a variety of fun personal questions.
In conversation with the students, Mr Hort said that he enjoys playing basketball and is a dedicated West Coast Eagles supporter.
Mr Hort concluded his visit by joining Mr Craig Hunter (Principal – Kalamunda Christian School), Mrs Tabatha Grubb (Deputy Principal / Learning Support Co-ordinator – Kalamunda Christian School), and two student representatives for a casual morning tea.

It is always encouraging to see our nation’s leaders building and maintaining strong relationships with our schools, and we are reaching out to all of our state and federal members to visit our schools and meet our students.
Mr Hort has more than just a passing fancy in Education, having recently been named as the Deputy Chair of the Education and Health Standing Committee for the 42nd Parliament of Western Australia.
This is a cross-party committee made up of members from the Liberal, Labor, and National parties. It’s an important opportunity to examine decisions that impact schools, hospitals, and communities across our state.
