School holiday training equips SCEA staff for future success

For many of us, the Term 3 break was an opportunity to travel, read a good book or catch up on some essential TV viewing. Not so for some of our Business Managers and enrolment staff across SCEA who undertook four full training days in the Head Office in the first week of the holidays. At the same time, two other SCEA Business Managers and our CFO travelled to Melbourne for the Association of School Business Administrators (ASBA) Conference 2023.

The four days of Head Office training was facilitated by Mrs Lize Janse Van Rensburg (Application Support Officer – SCEA) and Mr Wayne Fewster (Head of ICT – SCEA), and covered ‘EnrolHQ’ – an online enrolments solution which will streamline our records management system for future years and enhance the enrolment processes for parents

The migration to EnrolHQ was first announced in September 2022 after months of due diligence and meetings with potential suppliers. Mrs Janse van Rensburg has overseen this project from its inception and has worked hard to ensure seamless integration with our current student management system, TASS (The Alpha School System) is effective and efficient.

“EnrolHQ offers us the most flexibility in integrating with TASS. It has more features and offers future SCEA parents a great dashboard option,” says Ms Janse van Rensburg.

“This training has allowed our staff to understand the benefits of this new software and further develop our collective knowledge of this product.”

The next project milestone is for all SCEA schools to have the EnrolHQ program operating in their schools by December 1, 2023.

Stay tuned for details in further weeks as we count down to that important date!

While this training was being undertaken by our studious group in Midland, a team of three; Mr Rowan Joubert (Chief Financial Officer – SCEA), Dr Ray Bartell (Business Manager – Swan Christian College) and Mr Jean-Andre Spangenberg (Business Manager – Northshore Christian Grammar School) attended the ASBA Conference 2023.

This event hosted more than 750 delegates from the independent educational sector and featured speakers who reflected on the conference themes:

  1. Innovate,
  2. Motivate and
  3. Integrate.

Our SCEA representatives also met with suppliers and connected with their counterparts from across Australia. Early morning networking breakfasts with Christian Schools Australia (CSA) and Christian Education National (CEN) representatives made the visit valuable, as well as meetings with the Western Australian chapter of the Association of Independent Schools of Western Australia (AISWA).

Keynote speakers for the conference included:

• Gus Worland – Founded ‘Gotcha4Life’ and ABC series ‘Man Up’
• Dylan Alcot AO – Australian of the year 2022 and of the country’s most successful and well-recognised Paralympians
• Prof Genevieve Bell AO – A recognised world leader in the ethnographic approach to developing, shaping and using technology
• Dr Jordan Nguyen – One of Australia’s most innovative engineers, committed to improving the lives of people with disabilities by designing life-changing technology

Below are just a few photos taken by our travelling group. Look out for the photo of Mr Rowan Joubert with one of the celebrities from the conference – the dog from the Dulux advertisements!
