New KCS Principal is given a warm welcome by friends and colleagues at Commissioning Service

A gathered group of approximately 50 colleagues and invited guests joined the new Kalamunda Christian School (KCS) Principal, Mr Craig Hunter, to celebrate his Commissioning Service on Friday, 10 March 2023.

Mr Hunter comes to SCEA and the KCS community after a number of years of overseas missions and recent teaching experience at Rehoboth Christian College. As such, a number of ex-colleagues were on hand to sing spiritual songs (led by the very able Ms Christine Ferguson) and hear prayers from Mr Josh Thomas (Senior Pastor – Lesmurdie Baptist Church) and Mrs Tabatha Grubb (Deputy Principal – KCS).

SCEA’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr Graeme Cross, spoke to the group about the concept of a ‘calling on each one of our lives.’

The Principal’s response from Mr Hunter included a brief rundown of his experiences overseas as a young Christian, his background in mission and the task of Christian education for the staff, parents and students of Kalamunda Christian School going forward.

Mr Hunter has already made a splash at KCS, leading the cheering at the recent Swimming Carnival and making daily visits to each of the classrooms at the Halleendale Road campus.

Along with the giant mascot (aptly named Captain Kalamunda), Mr Hunter can be seen around the playgrounds each week and speaking openly to students at the school assemblies and in their classes.

Here are a few photos from the afternoon’s Commissioning Service.
