SCEA Association Members Meet to vote on Constitutional Changes and hear from Dr Darnelle Pretorius

On Tuesday 12 October, the SCEA Association Members met at Swan Christian College (SCC) to vote on the proposed changes to the SCEA Constitution.  The Constitutional Review Committee has been meeting for more than twelve months to review each part of this SCEA document in an effort to improve and reflect the missional aspect of the Association’s mission, vision and values going forward.

A quorum was reached, and the Association Members endorsed the proposed changes through the subsequent vote. The draft Constitution will now go before the regulatory bodies for final review and approval before it can be adopted.

The Association Members also heard from Dr Darnelle Pretorius, who will begin as Principal for Swan Christian College in Term Two, 2022.

Dr Pretorius spoke of her faith and life journey in Christian education to date, including her time at St. Stephen’s School in Duncraig, her work in an international school in Mauritius and the call to Swan Christian College.

While it may be almost six months until Dr Pretorius is based at the Middle Swan campus, she is keen to be a part of the SCEA community and took the time to meet a number of SCC staff, SCEA’s Senior Leadership Team, the SCEA Board and Association Members during the course of the evening.

The meeting concluded with an update from Chief Executive Officer Dr Graeme Cross, who spoke to the gathered group of nearly fifty participants about the capital works program at each school site, the continued enrolment growth across the SCEA schools and work that is being done to grow the teaching staff within SCEA schools through professional development.
