ECC Student Shines at Equestrian State Championships

The April school holidays saw Ellenbrook Christian College Year 12 student Sarah Little represent the College at the EWA 2021 Interschool State Equestrian Championships, hosted at the State Equestrian Centre in Brigadoon.

“It was a busy and exhausting three days, with endless amounts of hard work and preparation going into the event,” said Sarah, “but my passion and love for the sport made it all worth it.”

Sarah and her equine teammate, Penley Giovanni (Jack) worked well together throughout their combined training competition, dressage, showjumping and show horse over the competition, placing well in several events.

Sarah proudly displayed the Ellenbrook Christian College colours and logo throughout the competition, and there was a great sense of pride in representing the school in this broader community event.  The event attracted 150 other riders, representing 60 schools across WA.

Winning the dressage test was a great reward for the hours of hard work that go into these gruelling events:

“I was so excited and proud of this test! It was like everything came together, and all the blood, sweat and tears paid off.  You can only imagine how thrilled I was!” recalled Sarah recently.

Further events throughout the competition saw success for Sarah, and at the end of the three days, Sarah was crowned Overall Champion Participant Show Hunter. A great result for one of ECC’s Year 12 students!

Sarah hopes that her success at the event will inspire her fellow students to step up and represent their College at the various sporting events at which they compete.

“With hard work, anything is achievable,” said Sarah.

Well done to Sarah – and her trusty steed Jack!
