Association Meeting Highlights SCEA Enrolment Growth and the Way Forward

On Wednesday 31 March, approximately 40 Association members, SCEA staff and the SCEA Board met for the Quarterly Association Meeting.

SCEA Board Chair Mr Robert Edkins opened the meeting before inviting Chief Executive Officer Dr Graeme Cross to deliver a summary of the SCEA 2020 year and provided some overall direction for 2021 within our schools.

Attendees were given information and graphs which demonstrate that 2020 had been an excellent year for SCEA, despite the onset of COVID-19 and the other challenges presented. Much of the recognition during this summary was directed to the staff within our schools, who went ‘over and above’ in their roles during the pandemic, continuing to deliver outstanding service to our families.

It was revealed that enrolments are at their highest point in SCEA’s history, demonstrating that gospel-centred education is something that West Australian families are keen to engage with and highlights the positive impact that our schools are having on the communities we serve.

Three ‘When God Moves’ videos were also shown (which SCEA staff viewed at the 2021 New Year’s Celebration), revealing to Association Members the amazing things taking place as a result of committed Christian staff working in the lives of students, parents and local community members.  The videos showcased compassion projects, acts of service and opportunities to share the gospel with families in our schools.

The night concluded with Dr Martin Bent (Association and Constitution Review Committee Member) presenting an update (including Q&A) on the Constitutional Review being undertaken by the appointed Committee.
