You may recall that when the SCEA Strategic Plan (2025-2030) was unveiled at the SCEA Celebration Day earlier this year, several new initiatives were announced to support continued growth in our schools over the next five years.

One of the initiatives is the development of a ‘Teaching School’ which can equip undergraduates with educational qualifications to teach in Christian schools.
Since February, Dr Gregg Weaver (Chief Education Officer – SCEA) has visited and researched a number of like-minded institutions across Australia to gather information about how this project can become a reality for SCEA moving forward.

SCEA staff visit the St Philip’s Christian College (SPCC) Teacher Training School in Newcastle during a SCEA Research Trip.
Dr Weaver also formulated a Business Case for the ‘CHARIS Teacher Training School’ (CTTS), which has progressed through the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and has received unanimous support from the SCEA Board.
This ‘school’, which will equip the next generation of Christian teachers, will require a 0.5 FTE leader to ensure that work can begin on this venture in 2026 and the doors can open to future students in early 2027.

If your passion is to guide the next generation of Christian teachers, please prayerfully consider this role when it is advertised in the coming days for SCEA staff and external applicants.
Feel free to share this opportunity with your network of Christian educational professionals as we seek to equip our teachers for gospel-centred teaching and learning in our SCEA schools and other Christian schools for the years ahead.
