Did you know that your marketing staff can spend hours each week trawling through photographs to ensure that parental requests for photo permissions are correctly adhered to?
This new software, known as SchoolBench, aims to save time for school marketers, protect staff who have been using their smartphones to take photos of school trips and sports carnivals, and to archive images safely and securely.
For Marketers: SchoolBench is designed to recognise faces in photos and hide images of students with restricted photo permissions. This will save marketers a significant amount of time.
For our Teaching Staff: The SchoolBench Mobile app allows teachers to take photos, which are stored in the secure app, providing the privacy needed while documenting daily life at school.
For our parents: Parents and Guardians can set and change “Photo permissions” at any time, automatically flagging images for marketing and social media usage.
SCEA’s first school to trial this new privacy-enhancing software, Mundaring Christian College, sent Mrs Tanja Nell (Marketing & Communications Specialist) to the SCEA Head Office this week to discuss how the trial period would work, intending to roll this product out to the other SCEA sites in due course.

Other benefits of the product include:
- Uses automation and facial recognition data to identify students in the photos taken by staff.
- Media can be searched and sorted by Year, Term, Event, Student and Media consent.
- With SchoolBench Portal, we can send parent-tailored content that is relevant to their children.
In Term 4, the decision will be made by the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) as to whether this product is suitable for all SCEA schools. Until then, this feature will only be available at Mundaring Christian College (MCC).
