SCEA Representatives visit the new Midland Train Station with Midland MP Steve Catania MLA

In the 1980s and 1990s, pioneering SCEA students would access the Midland station to travel to Midland Christian School and Swan Christian High School (now known as Swan Christian College: Junior Campus and Senior Campus).

The finishing touches for the new Midland Train Station (opening in early 2026) are now being put on one of Western Australia’s largest rail refurbishments, with representatives from the SCEA Central Office visiting the site recently with local MP, Mr Steve Catania MLA (Midland’s Member of Parliament).

The visit offered SCEA representatives the opportunity to see firsthand the amazing work being undertaken by architects, project managers, and contractors to ensure that the project is ‘on-track and on time.’

The Community Reference Group (CRG) for this project first met in mid-2021, with SCEA representatives attending each of the consultation meetings since its inception.

The MetroNET team has formed long-lasting links with local businesses, community organisations, and individuals over the past five years. Now, as the project nears its conclusion, the opening is expected in February 2026.

The new station precinct, which will feature local artwork in common areas, state-of-the-art technology and award-winning sustainability features, will serve the local community for decades to come.

The visit with Mr Steve Catania MLA is just one of the events this year in which SCEA schools and the Central Office have engaged with political stakeholders, both at the State and Federal governments.

Independent education providers receive significant funding from the State and Federal governments, and we are very grateful for their assistance in allowing us to deliver our unique educational experience in SCEA Christian schools.

Within the SCEA Strategic Plan (2025-2030), our intent is to ‘build effective relationships with decision makers at State and Federal levels, including Government Ministers, Ministers of Parliament, key government agencies and service providers, to advocate for decisions and outcomes that align with the Association’s missions and goals.’

Whatever our personal political persuasions may be, there is a Biblical imperative to pray for and honour those in government.

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness”.

1 Timothy 2:1-2 (New International Version)
