Two pivotal positions within SCEA have recently been filled, with Mrs Madaline Chitra now beginning her role as SCEA’s Recruitment Specialist and Mr Peter Drew starting this term as Business Manager for Ellenbrook Christian College (ECC).
Mr Peter Drew is the brother of Mr Stephen Drew (SCEA’s Application Specialist) and has just moved into the ECC offices on Santona Boulevard following the recent retirement of Mr Craig Choveaux. He has worked in the beverage industry for the last 17 years, having held previous positions in several different finance-related roles across multiple sectors, including mining, oil & gas services, agriculture, mobile phone accessories and TAFE education.

What drew you to this position at ECC?
“I recently reached a point in my career where I had a strong sense that God was leading me to work for a Christian organisation that shared my values and faith. From there, the Business Manager role presented as an amazing opportunity. I really connected with the vision and aspirations of SCEA, and ECC’s mission and values, creating an environment where children have the opportunity to reach their potential and be presented with the gospel message in word and deed.”
Your faith is obviously an important part of your life. How does it shape who you are and what you do?
“I made a personal decision to follow Jesus when I was 11. I am so grateful that my parents became Christians and started attending church when I was an infant. My home church is Morley Baptist Church, where I attend with my wife, Amy, and our three children.”

Mrs Madaline Chitra comes to SCEA as part of the new ‘People’ team (formerly Human Resources), having spent a number of years with large organisations working in the recruitment and onboarding section of the Human Resources team. She is one of the three new additions that have been forecast as part of the Interim Head of People, Mrs Phebe Cho’s team, moving forward.

What made you want to work in the SCEA Head Office?
“With over 20 years of experience in Human Resources, I’ve had the opportunity to support strategic planning, lead end-to-end recruitment, contribute to people management, and be involved in a range of special projects across diverse sectors. I’m grateful for the experiences I’ve had so far and look forward to the opportunity to contribute to the SCEA team in a meaningful way.”
What’s your home church, and how do you serve there?
“My family and I attend Saturday Mass at Holy Spirit Church in City Beach.”
“My two daughters and I are members of the church choir for the Saturday service, which has been a meaningful way for us to be involved in the parish community. We also participate in monthly fellowship gatherings with the Tamil-speaking members of the church, which provide a wonderful opportunity for connection and shared faith.”
What are you most looking forward to in 2025?
“I’ve always taken a genuine interest in improving processes and supporting operational efficiency wherever possible. I’m looking forward to implementing an effective recruitment strategy to attract and retain high-quality staff across SCEA schools.”
