SCC continues to welcome new families in style with food and fellowship

For the third consecutive year, the team at Swan Christian College (SCC) have chosen to welcome new Kindergarten families months before ‘Day 1’ – with young families loving the opportunity to hear more about their future schooling choice from Principal Dr Darnelle Pretorius.

On Tuesday, 6 August, the Swan Early Learning community came together for a special Kindy Dinner that brought parents and children closer as they gear up for an exciting Kindergarten journey in 2025.

Principal Darnelle Pretorius and Dean of Early Learning, Mrs Hollie Johnson, gave a warm welcome to the new parents joining the Swan community.
The event was made even more special by the Swan Hospitality team, led by ‘Chef Rob’ (Mr Robert De Carmo – SCC Trade Trainer – Hospitality and world-famous chef!) and his talented team of staff and students from the Swan Trade Training Centre (STTC).

This event orients new families to the SCC culture and serves as practical training for STTC students who are completing their Certificate III in Hospitality.

After dinner, guests had the unique opportunity to experience what it would be like in a Kindergarten class with teacher Ms Sally Strang (pictured below), giving them a glimpse into the enriching and fun environment their children will enjoy.

Parents sampled some of the fun activities their children will enjoy next year, with new bonds formed and new friendships established between families that will journey through the SCC community together.

The event succeeded in creating a sense of belonging and building anticipation for the educational journey ahead, with the College’s commitment to fostering a supportive and enriching environment evident to all in attendance.

The stage is set for an incredible year of growth, learning, and cherished memories for both the children and their families at SCC in 2025!
