A group of Mundaring Christian College (MCC) staff, SCEA Head Office staff, community members, friends and family made the Commissioning Service for MCC’s new Principal, Mr Doug Holtam, a memorable way to conclude his first term in charge of the two campuses across Mundaring and Parkerville.
Mr Tim Oates (Head of Secondary -MCC) led the service and mentioned at the outset that Mr Holtam’s British sensibilities had led him to believe that the service was to resemble somewhat of a coronation (akin to King Charles in May of 2023).
As such, the staff of MCC fashioned a ‘bush sceptre’ for King Doug, and he promised to leave this in his office as a memento of how he had been royally welcomed to the College so far!
Subsequent speeches from Mr Holtam, Dr Graeme Cross (Chief Executive Officer – SCEA) and closing prayers from SCEA Board Member Dr Natalie Leitao sealed a perfect occasion for the new MCC Principal, whose family attended the wonderful event.
The MCC Hospitality team were out in force following the event, with staff and guests enjoying a time of fellowship together.
