Mr Hunter’s first semester at the helm of the Kalamunda Christian School (KCS) reached a climax this week, with dual success in the areas of school administration and community engagement.
On Tuesday 20 June, KCS welcomed back former Principal Dr Gregg Weaver to officiate ‘The Weaver Cup’ – a friendly soccer match in which KCS parents challenge their children on the school oval.
The event saw more than 80 people attend the match, with Dr Weaver having to extend the playing area due to the high volume of dads, lads, mums, daughters and vocal spectators who arrived to make the day a wonderful affair!
The final whistle sounded, with the parents team just eeking out the win with a 2-1 scoreline.
Last week, KCS participated in a full-day review with a panel of educational specialists and school leaders (from within and beyond SCEA) and a member of the SCEA Board or Association. The purpose of these Validation visits is to ensure that all of our SCEA schools comply with all of the educational registration standards set out by the WA government. The visit was a success for Mr Hunter and his KCS team, who continue to present excellent educational opportunities for students in the pristine campus on Halleedale Road in Walliston.

Finally, the month of June has brought showers and cold weather to the KCS campus, but Mr Hunter and his staff also had bursts of sunshine and rainbows on a number of occasions, prompting the Principal to take out his smartphone and photograph this scene on a crisp morning as the students marvelled at the beauty around them.
