Students come from across Perth to Swan’s Trade Training Centre

The Swan Trade Training Centre (STTC) campus is located on the grounds of Swan Christian College and offers students pre-apprenticeships in Building and Construction, Electrotechnology and Engineering.

This week, STTC welcomed more than 160 Year 10 students from across Perth schools to try their hand at the various trade options.

The Head of STTC, Mr Matthew King, was overwhelmed by the positive response from SCEA schools and external students:

“It’s fantastic,” said Matt, “and I think it speaks to the Christian staff here. That’s what sets us apart.”

It’s not just the caring nature of our staff or the fact that this is such a safe place for girls to get into a previously male-dominated area of trade, it’s the attention to each individual because we care that makes our instructors unique.”

Students came from as far away as Northshore Christian Grammar School and Brookton in their quest to test the STTC’s equipment, experience and energy this week.

After a hard day’s work and a Sausage Sizzle for lunch, the students proudly headed home with a Chopping Board and a new shiny metal toolbox that they had made.
