SCEA’s first Association Meeting of the year allows Members to meet again

On Wednesday 11 May 2022, a happy group of Association Members gathered in the Conference Room at Swan Christian College (SCC) to meet for the first time in 2022.

Although the meeting did not reach the required ‘quorum’ (the number needed for a vote to be passed on agenda items), it was an excellent time to reflect upon how the Lord has blessed the seven SCEA schools and the work of the SCEA Board and Association members.

The proceedings of the night were bookended by prayers from Mr Mike Pitman (Principal, Ellenbrook Christian College) and Dr Gregg Weaver (Principal, Kalamunda Christian School).

A ‘SCEA Transformation’ video was shown of Swan alumni Mr Paul Goodchild who recollected life in the early days of Midland Christian School and how it shaped him to become the man he is today. Two of the ‘When God Moves’ series of videos were also shown, with Mrs Jen Groom (Southern Hills Christian College) and Mr Michael Chan (Mundaring Christian College) recalling events of 2021 that demonstrated the spirit of God at work in their respective schools.

The address from the Chief Executive Officer, Dr Graeme Cross, highlighted the enrolment growth across SCEA schools in 2021. He also explained the role of the ‘Board Recruitment Committee’ and their purpose in ‘seeking out Christians from the community who could serve on the Board’ for SCEA.

An adjourned meeting will now be held next week to vote in the members of the Board Recruitment Committee, and we look forward to naming these committee members when they have been elected.

With many of the SCEA Board members away on ‘COVID duties’, it was left to Board Vice-Chair Mr Craig Clark to run the meeting, and he did so with his customary wit and humour!
