As the new year begins for teachers and staff across our schools, one family will begin 2021 knowing that the booklists do not need to be shopped for and the Swan uniforms can stay in the cupboard or passed on to a new family.
After twenty years and their six children all having graduated, the Newton family have completed their schooling years at Swan Christian College.
The final Newton, Abbey, graduated at the end of 2021 and would like to pursue a career in education. Her five older siblings have largely pursued careers in the healthcare industry, including Physiotherapy for two of the siblings and 2013 Dux of SCC, Rebekah, studying Medicine and recently winning the UWA Valedictorian Prize over the summer holidays.
Heather, the mother of the six Newton children, was effusive in her praise for Swan staff this week after two decades of drop-offs and pickups, lunchboxes and school photo days.
She thanked the College for giving her children such a solid grounding to go out into the world fully equipped for life:
“I feel like Swan was an excellent all-round education for our children. The love they were shown and the care that was given to them was just amazing and we could not be happier at this point. We have seen a number of excellent staff and leaders over the twenty years and it’s been a fantastic journey.”
