Warmer weather prepares staff for ‘Step Together’ – 15 December, 2021

Are you waking up each morning and thinking ‘Is it really Term Four, already?’

The answer is, of course, YES! The weather is starting to resemble sunny skies more regularly as we gather momentum for the Christmas season and a break from the classroom.

While there may seem to be a number of deadlines and events before Wednesday 15 December, this date is an important one – because it is the first day of the summer holidays for a number of our staff across schools!

To mark the start of the break, staff have the opportunity to gather together for 60 minutes of chosen physical activity before coming together for breakfast and celebrating the day that the Lord has made as we look forward to Christmas.

Possible activities include:

Running 10 kilometres is an option for the adventurous ones amongst us. Some are even dusting off their running shoes now in preparation for this event!

Walking 5 kilometres might be more in line with your idea of a good time. That sounds like a good way to start the day for most – especially after staff Christmas lunches that week!

Paddling on the Swan River might be your way of getting the blood pumping (bring your own kayak!). To be free of the ‘terra firma’ and on the open water suits some of our staff…or

Cycling around the bridges is the sport for a number of our SCEA staffers, who will welcome the early morning with a cycling loop as shown on the map below.

Whatever mood you might be in on 15 December, please know that this is a totally voluntary event and spouses, children and even pets are also invited!

The map outlines the possible activities for the morning, including walking, jogging, paddling (BYO kayak) or cycling (BYO bike).
