James Rowbottom (2019 graduate) completed his ATAR with an aim to study Medicine at University.

He undertook the UCAT study program and sat the July 2020 exams.

James ranked in the 99th percentile nationally which meant that he was in the top 50 students from the 15,000 UMAT participants.

From here he applied to UWA, Curtin University and Monash University in Melbourne.  After attending interviews at all three universities, James had the option of attending all of his selected universities of choice.

“I remember being quite nervous going through interviews and applying for scholarships,” said James on his return to Swan Christian College yesterday.

James was the only student from Western Australia offered a place at Monash and he has decided to take up the prestigious offer to study at Monash’s campus in Clayton, Victoria.

He is also on the short list for the Dean’s Scholarship at Monash.

“It's good to be back at Swan and see the teachers that I remember being so helpful and influential on my studies. Especially Mrs Di Lello and Mr Entwistle. They are both such amazing people!”

It's always great to see all of our students across SCEA achieving excellent outcomes with their schooling, particularly those who complete their ATAR examinations and follow their passions into career paths and study with TAFE and tertiary institutions.

We look forward to tracking James’s progress at Monash and hope that he will come back to Swan to speak at an assembly one day!
