Ten construction students from Southern Hills Christian College volunteered to assist their sister school Kalamunda Christian School to clear away an old shed and clean up a house in preparation for the building of a new uniform shop at the school.

Throughout the project, the students were guided by Southern Hills Christian College Principal and building and construction teacher Mr. Paul Beacham and expert tradesman Mr. David Bracegirdle.

“The students worked as a team in tough conditions,” said Mr. Paul Beacham, Principal of Southern Hills Christian College.

“There was a real-world element to this project, and it was excellent for the students to put their acquired skills in construction to the test in a practical setting.

“I am impressed by the professionalism and efficiency that the students portrayed throughout the project.” He said.

The Southern Hills Christian College Students cherished the opportunity to assist their fellow SCEA school and look forward to returning to Kalamunda Christian School to help with further building projects.

“We learnt how to work well in a team environment, and it was good to achieve something through hard work,” said Bec Martyr, Year 10 student at Southern Hills Christian College.
