If your first thoughts about Drama as a subject at secondary level are Shakespearean speeches and Greek tragedies, you are in for a rude shock…sort of…

Ellenbrook’s Year 11 Drama students are creating their own calamities in the form of an ‘Escape Room Project’ – complete with a script, a timeline, a budget and a mad scientist who must be stopped!

The concept is part project management, part set design, part script-writing and a whole lot of hard work for students who are keen to see the initial ECC Escape Room experience  (inaugurated in 2019) built upon in terms of visits and attendance.

“We are hoping that people complete the Escape Room experience and feel like it has been an excellent, exhilarating experience,” said Imogen Watene who studies Event Management through TAFE and has linked part of this project towards her studies there.

Ellenbrook CC Arts Coordinator Caity Stafford has been impressed with the level of originality and dedication that her students have already put into this project.

“The students got an understanding of what escape rooms were like from watching them online, but the idea to do one in our school was entirely original!”

Publicity for the ECC Escape Room will soon appear on Instagram, Facebook, ECC News and on the website, so be sure to secure your tickets and look out for ECC celebrities like Mr Mike Pitman, Mr Andrew Johnston or even the famous Mrs Marisa Streeton in the escape room scenario in Term 3!
